Program Overview
Program Description
The Moalem Program is a rigorous four-year, eight-semester, program providing an in-depth and comprehensive education in the rites and hymns of the Coptic Orthodox Church. This virtual program combines traditional instruction with modern convenience, allowing individuals to immerse themselves in the rich heritage of the church from anywhere in the world.
Under the expert guidance of our distinguished faculty, all of whom are esteemed graduates of the St. Didymus Institute, participants will master the rites and hymns integral to the roles of the deacon, congregation, and priest. This program ensures that graduates are well-prepared to lead liturgical services and teach the rites and hymns of the church, preserving and perpetuating the rich heritage of the Coptic Orthodox Church. Through a blend of live virtual classes, recorded sessions, and personalized mentorship, students will gain the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their roles within the church.
Program Requirements
• Male, 17 years of age or older
• Recommendation from father of confession
• Hymns Recording Submission
• Admissions interview
• Must be able and willing to fly to LA for in person final exams (NO EXCEPTIONS)
• Must be able to read Coptic
• Final approval from Bishop

Program Cost
• $500 tuition per semester
• $50 technology fee per semester
• $50 application fee
• Flight / hotel costs for exams
